Cymdeithas Ddinesig Casnewydd
Newport is a new city, granted in 2001.
It has a great many listed buildings, and places of note, that might go unnoticed. There are a good many beautiful walks around, and contains most City attractions without many of the downsides of other Cities.
Newport is in easy reach of lots of places elsewhere in South Wales, South West England, along the M4 and up to Birmingham too. Below is a particularly beautiful map showing Newport. Notice the blue River Usk, Llanwern Steel works large rectangle on the right-hand side, and the M4, a grey belt across the north of the City.
In the centre, the remains of Newport Castle are highly visible and contrast against road and rail links, plus attractions of the Newport Wave, and the New Arts Centre.
